Okay how cool is this....
I recently finished reading The Wishbones by Tom Perotta. If you have ever read his stuff you know how good he is and how you can get drawn in to the worlds he create. His characters are just so real and deal with problem that are real.
So any way I got through the book and just really liked it. I've read Little Children too and that was awesome. So, I emailed Tom at his website address and just told him how much I enjoyed his work and that I really thought his books representing life in the written form.
I figured he probably gets these emails all the time, so I was expecting any response back. But, about two days later, I get a response from him as follows:
Keith,
Thanks for the kind words--I'm really glad you enjoy my books.
Hope you have a great holiday season as well,
tom
How flipping cool is that. Just thought I would share. I'm sure some of you are saying to yourself, I actually wasted my time reading this post, but go read his books and you understand.

Colder than a graver digger's butt in the Yukon...
Man it was cold this morning.
Being December 1st and all you'd think I would know that. But hey give me some slack here, I live in Texas. Wednesday it was dang near 85 degrees, yesterday it froze and snowed. Ah Texas (pretty sure this is what Catholics call purgatory!)
I got up this morning around 5:40 in the am and went running. I was colder than h-e- double hockey sticks. It was a little under 29degrees and a little over 28degrees Farenheit. It was just me out there. I usually don't run mornings, but I am going to start. Not only because that is the most convenient time for me, but also because of the feelings I got today.
I felt unique. There I was while everyone else was asleep; I was up running. I was chugging through bricks of cold weather. I felt a little more alive out there. I ran with Orion and the Big Dipper. I ran with the Dawn when it began its ascent. I breathed in cold and breathed out discipline.
I recently printed off some motivational quotes and I said almost everyone of them this morning. But mainly, I just chanted over and over " I AM A RUNNER". And after today, I know think I am, I know I am.
